Petrified Forest National Park

Known for large deposits of petrified wood from fallen trees of the Late Triassic Epoch, Petrified Forest National Park in northeastern Arizona is also the site of spectacular badlands and bentonite mounds. The park is in the aptly named Painted Desert.
